April 2023 Emissions Model
The April emissions model incorporates hints from ads.txt files for channel and geo; connects sustainability data from the GitHub repository to the API; and models emissions at the publisher and ad tech platform level for ad server reporting use cases.
Ads.txt Hints for Channel and Geo
Many publishers use different ad tech partners in different channels and geographies. For each property, we now compute the programmatic supply graph for each significant country-channel combination. We use "hints" provided in ads.txt files to determine which countries and channels each row applies to.
Github sustainability data
When a publisher or ad tech company has a parsed sustainability report in the public GitHub repository, we use it to compute the organization's corporate footprint, increasing the accuracy of the media distribution (for publishers) and ad selection (for ad tech companies) data.
Publisher and ad tech platform models
In this dataset we now model publishers and platforms for cases when the underlying property data is not available - for instance from ad server reporting. These models are built around an average of the underlying properties. For instance, the model for "Conde Nast" as a seller will be the average of their properties that we have attached to this organization.
